I was raised in the best traditions of English gardening, in a large house with a large garden and a large family, many of whom would have put a career professional to shame with their knowledge of plants and their devotion to growing them!
 I earned degrees in Plant & Soil Science and
Horticulture from Universities in England and America.
For many years, I owned and operated a landscape
design and construction business in Maine, with a
nursery that specialized in quality and unusual woody
plant material. Since then I have taught horticulture
and landscaping at both high school and university,
as well as in numerous continuing education programs.
I am also a Certified Independent Organic Farm Inspector, and I inspect farms for organic certification. I am committed to finding ways to work with nature in all the landscaping that I do.
